Research Consumables

IDS provides complementary materials and reagents to support laboratories with applications such as purification or bone turnover assessment

Applications for IDS research consumables

Research consumables available from IDS fall into 2 categories:

Purification reagents

Double antibody separation has commonly been used since the earliest days of radioimmunoassay (RIA)1,2 and is a very reliable process. Less demanding procedures have been sought, in particular solid phase antibody techniques3,4.

To support laboratories to manage such processes, IDS has developed our Sac-Cel® reagents.  These solutions are comprised of antibody covalently coupled to microfine cellulose particles, successfully combines the specificity of liquid antibody with the speed, simplicity and precision of solid phase separation.

In vitro assessment of bone turnover

Includes the availability of slices of cortical bone or dentine which are designed to function as a substrate on which cultured osteoclasts excavate authentic resorption lacunae.  The resulting degradation products of collagen type I within the culture supernatant can then be quantified using an appropriate assay – such as the CrossLaps® for Culture (CTX-I) ELISA
