Vector borne diseases are caused by parasites, viruses and bacteria that are transmitted to humans and other animals by blood-feeding anthropods, such as mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas. Common vector-borne diseases include Dengue fever, West Nile Virus, Lyme disease, and malaria. Vector-borne diseases account for more than 17% of all infectious diseases and cause over 700K deaths annually. 1
Lyme disease (LD) is a tick-borne disease caused by the bacterium, Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto in the United States or by Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato in Europe and certain other regions of the world. The reservoir for B. burgdorferi is small rodents, with deer as a secondary reservoir. Ticks that feed on infected rodents or deer may then transmit the disease to humans.
IDS Borrelia IgM and IDS Borrelia IgG fully automated chemiluminescent serology enhance the efficientcy of LD testing in your laboratory:
- Facilitates classification of LD, based on IgM and/or IgG positivity.
- IDS Borrelia assays are based on recombinant proteins to reduce the cross-reactivity problems, providing higher specificity.
- IDS Borrelia IgM uses two recombinant antigens, OspC and VlsE, assuring the diagnostic sensitivity for early stages of LD.
- Ready to use reagents with up to 60 days on-board storage and 28 days calibration frequency.
