Respiratory Infections

We are empowering your laboratory with a full suite of reliable, high quality COVID-19 testing solutions.

Respiratory infections affect the respiratory system, including both upper tract infections, like the common cold, and lower tract infections, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and tuberculosis. Respiratory infections are caused by a wide variety of pathogens, including viral and bacterial.

The common respiratory viral pathogens are influenza A and B, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).  Bacterial pathogens are less common than viral but can include Streptococcus Streptococcus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB, TB).

Respiratory infections spread via three different transmission routes: contact (direct or indirect), droplet and aerosol transmission. Contact transmission refers to direct virus transfer from an infected person to a susceptible individual (e.g. via contaminated hands) or indirect virus transfer via intermediate objects. Transmission of virus through the air can occur via droplets or aerosols.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) results from an infection with SARS-CoV-2. The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared COVID-19 as a pandemic in March 2020.

Testing has a crucial role in fighting COVID-19 pandemic. We are proud to empower you with a full suite of reliable, high quality COVID-19 testing solutions:

Rapid / POCT Testi

IDS offers following rapid tests to detect the presence of antigens or antibodies against SARS-CoV-2.  These simple-to-use tests deliver rapid result within 15 minutes, without the need for any laboratory equipment.

  • Coronavirus Ag Rapid Test Cassette (Swab)ii
  • SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Test Kitii
  • TGS Velox Ab COVID-19 IgM/IgG POCTii

Antibody Test in a Laboratory Setting

We provide the following antibody tests, for use in a laboratory setting:

  • IDS SARS-CoV-2 IgG: qualitative detection of IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in human serum and plasma, using the IDS-iSYS Multi-Discipline Automated System.  For use under the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) only.
  • TGS COVID-19 IgGii :  quantitative CLIA test for identifying individuals with an adaptive immune response to SARS-CoV-2, indicating recent or prior infection.
  • TGS COVID-19 IgMii : qualitatively detect antibodies that emerge in the early course of infection.

IDS S1 RBD IgGii: measure the IgG directed to the S1-RBD sub-units of the virus. This sub-unit is the main antigen used in the most common COVID-19 vaccines.
