Both rapid coronavirus tests have CE mark approval and can be performed by a trained healthcare professional in community locations (e.g. workplaces, schools, clinics, doctors’ surgeries) without the need for laboratory equipment. These antigen tests detect patients who are currently infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, providing a result within 15 minutes.
Both tests are performed on nasopharyngeal samples. In clinical comparison with PCR methods these tests have shown a sensitivity of 96% and 92% respectively, and a specificity of 99%.
The rapid tests join our , which includes ELISA and fully automated laboratory-based SARS-CoV-2 antibody testing technologies, to help identify recent or historic infections.
