An automated assay for the quantitative determination of Specific IgE in human serum on the IDS System. The results are to be used as an aid in the diagnosis and management of allergic disorders in conjunction with other clinical findings. The presence of allergen-specific IgE antibodies in serum is referred to as sensitisation and is an important risk factor for allergic reactions upon re-exposure to the allergen (1).

Associated allergen:

Tree pollens are one of the most important respiratory allergen sources and sensitised subjects suffer from symptoms of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis and asthma. The geographical distribution of trees drives the patients’ sensitisation profiles(2, 3). Ole e 1 is a major allergen from Olive tree pollens and is found mainly in the Mediterranean area. The component can be useful in identifying patients that will respond to Immunotherapy (3).
