What’s New in Bone Markers?

IDS, in collaboration with our colleagues at Oxford Biosystems, are pleased to be supporting 2 forthcoming events in the scientific calendar that will offer updates and guidance on the use of Bone Turnover Markers in clinical applications. Visit us at our exhibition stand and learn about our assays for BTMs including CTX-I, TRAP 5b, PINP, BAP, Osteocalcin and Vitamin D.

Mellanby Centre Training Course: Diagnostic Test for Osteoporosis

The Director of the Mellanby Centre for Bone research, Richard Eastell, explains “The first day of the course will address the use of BTM in clinical practice, in particular which markers are currently available, how best to use these markers on a day-to-day basis, as well as how to interpret BTM results in a number of clinical settings. Participants will hear from a faculty of expert speakers in a formal lecture setting and will also be able to interact with them in smaller group workshops.”

“On the second day participants will receive basic training on vertebral fracture assessment using a step-by-step approach applying an algorithm that identifies vertebral fractures. Those in attendance will take part in practical sessions, as well as hear the theory behind fracture identification from physicians and radiologists who are identifying vertebral fractures on a day-to-day basis.”

23-24 June, The Edge, Sheffield

Bone Research Society Annual Meeting

“For clinicians, there will be updates on new treatments as well as a short series of clinical cases. The meeting is fully approved for CPD by the Royal College of Physicians. A key component of the meeting will be the extensive opportunities for informal discussion and for poster viewing, and we warmly invite you to submit your abstracts for both oral and poster presentation.”
